Groups C & D were the first to run a second stint, at 9 p.m. ET. The Ray Snowden/Mark Brannon, driven by Ray Snowdon, B&B Motorsports number 77, 2001 Riley & Scott lllc was untouchable, as no one could come close to the car's fast lap of 1:48.029.
Scooter Gabel in the number 1, 1997 BMW M3.R/E36, was a strong second in Masters Endurance Legends, 4th overall in this race. Cal Meeker's number 29, 1987 Spice SE87L, a car that typically runs at the front, dropped to the rear of the race with brake issues, completing only 2 laps.
Group E was the next to run a second stint. David Porter in his number 7, 2010 Peugeot 908 HDI, as usual, won the race, with a best lap nearly five seconds faster than the second-place car. **“The car is running great, and the track is in very good shape,"** Porter said, moments before he headed off for a nap before his third stint.
The number 2 David Roberts/Ray Evernham CRP Motorsports Audi R8 LMS, with Evernham behind the wheel, spun and the car wouldn't restart, causing a full course caution midway through the race. The car was retired. **“We've had battery problems on both stints,"** said Evernham, the crew chief who took NASCAR's Jeff Gordon to stardom. **“I'm not sure we'll take it back out."**
And finally, Group F had their second stint on the track. The Carlos and Billy Johnson number 241 Alegra Motorsports Riley BMW DP had a solid outing, taking the lead with 22 minutes to go, and holding onto it for 10 minutes in the Masters Endurance Legends group, becoming 2nd overall in the race. Johnson, who was driving the number 241, is an IMSA champion and was a development driver for the Ford GT.
The number 8 ERA Motorsports 2013 Oreca 03 LMP2 of James Hagan/Tommy Byrne, James Hagan was driving, also had a strong race, finishing just behind John Reisman, 3rd overall, in the number 33 Hudson Historics 2014 Coyote Corvette DP.
