Monza ELMS Support Race Update

After assessing the feasibility of the planned AMMEL Support Race at Monza on 9-11 October, Masters Historic Racing have decided to withdraw from the event.

We understand from the ELMS organisers, that the Monza event will be run under the newly updated FIA Appendix S which relates to Covid-19 protocol. These regulations mean that everyone attending from AMMEL would need to be tested in the 96 hours prior to arriving in Monza, all attendees would have to have their temperatures taken each day on arrival and there would be no sharing of awnings between teams etc. Whilst this may be feasible for professional motorsport teams, the FIA Appendix S makes life very difficult for historic motorsport and the way it runs. In addition, there is also the UK Government 14-day quarantine, on return to the UK, should drivers or teams stop in France, or Belgium, en route to or from Monza.

Therefore, having considered that everyone involved in historic motorsport, is here primarily for the enjoyment of it, we have decided that it would be best to withdraw the AMMEL grid from the ELMS Monza event.

We are busy working on an exciting 2021 calendar and hope to have some news about our plans for next year, very soon.

Thank you to drivers, teams, organisers and fans for your support so far this year! We look forward to a new season with the AMMEL Series in 2021.
